Immunizations in India

If you are a planning a trip to India, make sure you go see your doctor at least six weeks before you leave. Your doctor should be able to tell you what injections you will need at the present time. If you haven’t had a booster in the past 10 years, it is recommended that you be vaccinated for tetanus and polio. Food and waterborne diseases are more common, so vaccinations for typhoid (valid three years) and hepatitis A (validity varies). You should also take anti-malarial medication. Go to your doctor and he/or she will let you know.

If you are planning a trip to Goa shouldn't have to get any immunizations of any kind including Malaria. It is better to be safe than sorry though, so it is up to you. I recommend going to the doctor and he/she will be able to answer any questions. If you do get injections be sure to hang onto an immunization card, so if something happens the doctor knows what you've been treated for.
