Pronounced 'ore-eh', located in Northern Sweden and approximately 80km from the city of Ostersund, is the ski resort of Åre, which is one of Northern Europe's largest alphine resorts. Arguably the best ski hill in Sweden this mountain has 44 ski lifts and 98 individual pistes and is a great hill for a beginner to start on. For more information on Åre go to




Riksgränsen is the world's northernmost ski resort
and its located 200km north of the Arctic Circle and just east of the Norwegian border. The resort offers first-class skiing in well-prepared pistes as well as great off-piste opportunities. Riksgränsen is very popular with free riders and the snowboard crowd, but it is a great place for conventional downhill skiing as well. For more information on Riksgränsen go to




Described as the prettiest mountain due to its surroundings, Vemdalen attracts all levels of skiers and snowboarders to its resort. The three areas, Björnrike, Vemdalsskalet and Klövsjö/Storhogna, are all well supplied with lifts and a wide variety of runs, from moguls to gentle, undulating slopes.
