Acapulco is Mexico’s oldest beach resort and it’s located on the Bay of Acapulco on the west coast of Mexico. Acapulco attracts a mainly young clientele, as they go for the budget accommodation and the great nightlife.

Cancun

 

Cancún is located in the southeast corner of Mexico in the Yucatán Peninsula and it’s probably the most famous and popular of the Mexican beach resorts. The resort attracts families, young couples and college students who come annually during spring break for the cheap drinks and wild parties. The majority of the high- rise hotel buildings are located along a narrow strip along the beach, which makes it easy to get to and from the water.

The beaches in Cancún are breathtaking and are one of the highlights of the resort. Unfortunately, in 2005 Hurricane Wilma came storming through Cancún and wiped out most of the beaches, but fortunately, most of them have been recovered to what it was before the hurricane. Cozumel

 

Cozumel is a 190 square mile island that’s located 20km east off Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula in the Caribbean Sea. The majority of the tourists, who go to Cozumel, are divers and snorkelers and they are there to dive in the Mesoamerica Reef, which is the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. The snorkelers go to protected national Marine Park, which has amazing clear turquoise waters.

The resort of Cozumel is the busiest resort in Mexico due to the daily influx of cruise ships disembarking. The majority of the people getting off the cruise ships are only in town for a day or two and they mainly chill out on the beach or go check out the shopping town. The most popular beach in Cozumel is at Parque Punta Sur, which has arguably the best white sandy beach in Cozumel. Playa del Carmen

 

The trendy resort of Playa del Carmen is located south of Cancún in the Yucatán Peninsula. The majority of tourists who visit Playa del Carmen are young and trendy and come from all over the globe. Playa del Carmen has made a reputation for itself as being Mexico’s high end resort where the rich want to be seen and the clubs are on par with some of the best in Europe.

Puerto Vallarta


Puerto Vallarta is located on the Pacific Coast side of Mexico and it attracts mainly package holiday makers from North America and Europe looking for a quiet holiday away. It’s considered to have some of the most picturesque beaches in the Mexico as well as some of the shopping. Away from the beach there are jungles and mountains, which make it an excellent resort for hiking and climbing.
